What Happens During the 7th Week of Pregnancy?

  • The connection is made: Baby’s umbilical cord is now connecting the embryo to the placenta, supplying oxygen and essential nutrients, and removing waste.
  • Little duck feet: Right now, your baby’s hands and feet are webbed, with the fingers and toes yet to form.
  • 10,000 times the size: That’s how much bigger baby is from at the time of conception.
  • Ready for diapers: Well not quite, but the kidneys have now started forming.
  • The nose knows: There’s a tiny pair of nostrils growing.

What Should I Be Feeling at 7 Weeks Pregnant?

  • The powerful pregnancy hormones, estrogen and progesterone, keep fueling a range of positive and some not-so-fun symptoms.
  • With the strange cravings for food, you may also find yourself repulsed by the aroma of foods that have traditionally been favorites.
  • By week 7, you’ll probably already have grown a bra size. Switching to a maternity bra can provide some support and relief from the aches and growing pains as your breasts evolve into a food source.
  • You’ve made baby a safe space. Between the development of the placenta and the formation of a mucus plug in your cervix, your baby’s all cozy to grow. Keep up your part by being good to your body with regular exercise, plenty of rest and nutritious food.
